Holding Sculptures for Fallen Fruits is a collaborative work by Sonja Drolma Herrmann and Setareh Alipour, consisting of 18 terracotta sculptures. These works reinterpret Sonja's earlier handmade terracotta vessels for ferments and Setareh's approach to reinterpreting existing material. The artists were inspired by a golden centerpiece that is usually on display in this room, the former dining room.
At the opening, they were offering a tasting based on recipes from Bhutan and Iran. The terracotta sculptures create a deliberate contrast to the sumptuous dining room and at the same time integrate harmoniously into its architecture by picking up on existing formal elements such as chandeliers and pedestals. The title of the work remains significant even after the culinary part and points to the metaphorical function of the sculptures: they evoke a place where food falls naturally from the sky and is caught and held by the sculptures.
